Slice of Life Tuesday:It’s looking like a party in 202!

Join the Slice of Life Writing Community @ Two Writing Teachers

It is a dreary December 23rd. outside, but my classroom will soon be filled with laughter, music, dancing, and joy.

I’m taking just a moment to survey the scene – desks pushed against the wall to give us space to dance, desks piled with treats (shh…don’t tell anyone, but yes, we are definitely having treats!), and comfy chairs all arrayed so that we can crash when the dancing gets too much.  In a few minutes, my kids will be here, and I can’t wait to see their smiling faces, their holiday excitement.

We’re putting work aside to enjoy the blessings of each other’s company, the gift of being lucky enough to have much to celebrate, and the freedom to do so.

It is the season of lights, the promise of hope, and we rejoice.

  1. I can’t believe you are still in school. I am sitting in my PJs reading slices. But your class party sounds like great fun. Hope you get some quiet time soon. We all need it. Merry Christmas!

  2. I was surprised to check our school calendar this year and find that Friday was the last day…most years we would go on Monday…not today though! Yipes! Have a rocking party! There’s stuff to learn about having fun and appreciating each other!

  3. (Still in school on December 23rd!! Yikes!) You make it so fun, I’m sure that classroom is exactly where all your students want to be. Celebrate and then recover and relax!

  4. That last half day before Christmas vacation was always an exciting time at school. To top things off, we sometimes had a faculty/staff covered dish lunch after the kiddos left. A great way to start vacation. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  5. A delightful way to send the kids (and teachers) on their way to a holiday break. Hope you enjoy your time off as much as you enjoyed your party! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
